poetry

how does the meadow
flower its bloom unfold?
because the lovely little
flower is free down
to its root, and in that
freedom bold. (william wordsworth)

paris

surprise |sə(r)ˈprīz| noun 1 an unexpected or astonishing event, fact, or thing : the announcement was a complete surprise.

i surprised sally on friday night by telling her that i was taking her to paris for our 1st year wedding anniversary and that we were leaving in the morning. she was astonished which made me happy. paris was indeed beautiful, the city of love, some would say. we wined and dined and walked (about 16 million miles) and talked.

our hotel was in the latin quarter which thrives in the evenings, late night music around every corner, we sat and had coffee and a crepe at gone 10pm. men take your women to paris for a surprise. the following day we spent time looking at monet paintings and feeling small while standing beneath the eiffel tower. a brief but breathtaking trip.

i would like to go to rome or barcelone next.

honfleur

hello.

we are in honfleur in the north west of france. it is beautiful, even more so now that the sun is shining and lighting up the huge garden that lies in front of me. we are very close to the town of honfleur where we will be eating this evening. a website says this about the area..

"One of the most picturesque old fishing ports in France. and beloved by tourists from all over the world. Yet despite its fame and popularity, Honfleur retains its timeless character. In the harbour, you can still buy your fish direct from the men who catch them."

we love it here, however we still cannot say a sentence in french. you could say we're making them work for their tourism. here's to the men who catch the fish that we will eat.

sherbert fountain

hello.

not only is calvin my hero, sherbert fountains are probably my favourite treat which originates from growing up and having them every weekend. i have just eaten one and yes they still taste superb. the licorice i feel is not as good as it used to be but times change as do sweats. i still also manage to get the sherbert all down me.

today has been a good day, especially since 3.30 when i enjoyed walking home after work. we got indian tonight and so my stomach feels incredibly blessed with such goodness it has been given today.

i will also comment briefly on the feeling i had during work when i looked out the window. it very much felt like february, it looked brisk and fresh outside, quite wintery but not over cold. light scarf weather perhaps with carol singers filling the air waves. anyway it is not february it is august but i do look forward to such a time.

return of the blog

hello.

after much thought i have decided to return to my blog writing ways. i hope it provides you with some good reading and
gives in an insight into the excellent life i lead. it is a simple life and i am nearly always happy with it. i'm not sure what
changed my mind into re-writing a blog but i guess it just feels good to have a blank page and write about the day. if you ever read calvin and hobbes there is a very good comic strip that represents this very fact, calvin is indeed my hero.

i lost at scrabble tonight. twice. losing to your wife is a humbling experience. always.

earlier in the day i enjoyed chinese for monday lunch club with andy and silvester. the noodles were superb and we will enjoy
that place next week as well when our usual monday will become our unusual tuesday. the wonderful feeling of a bank holiday
and a day off excites me as this weekend me and sally will have been married for 1 year and we will be sunning ourselves in
france from thursday till monday. lovely.

i will leave you now with a picture of the last time in france.
